Duke Nukem Forever, one of the most anticipated plays in history, became the architect of a historical sinking story when it debuted. Scott Miller, the founder of the Apogee studio, has spoken out about the sinking of his former studio, 3D Realms. According to Miller, Duke Nukem Forever was the cause of the iconic studio’s collapse.
Miller published an article titled “The Truth About DNF”, which shared his thoughts on the game. The first trailer released in this article was an “exaggerated demo,” the executive said, stressing that the game was not at the point shown in the trailer at the time.
Duke Nukem Forever was said to have caused the legendary 3D Realms to go under, and Apogee had to invest the money he made from games like Max Payne and Prey at the time into the DNF. The studio doesn’t have enough staff, the executive said, adding that Duke’s story isn’t over yet.
Duke Nukem, who is now in gearbox’s hands, doesn’t know if he’ll show up again in the future. But Miller is confident gearbox can make a great Duke Nukem game with Unreal 5. Of course, how such an extreme character will react today will be the subject of another time…
