Electronic Arts has announced that it has merged its Codemasters Cheshire studio with Criterion Games. The two studios, united under one roof, will work on the future of the Need for Speed series.
An EA spokesman said:
“This integration is a continuation of the close relations established by the two studios in recent months. We firmly believe that combining the great experiences of these studios, which embrace common values and similar cultures, will enable us to provide our players with the best racing experience.”
As a result of this merger, there will be no reduction of employees in the studios, criterion’s original team will be included in the Cheshire studio.
Electronic Arts bought Codemasters last year for $1.2 billion.
Criterion, another EA studio, is particularly famous for its exquisite Burnout series. The combination of these two studios can lead to very good results, we will see.
