Russia has received a serious response from around the world following its invasion of Ukraine. In addition to the major sanctions, Russia’s isolation on almost everything that comes to mind has begun. One of them is video games.
In a message posted on its FIFA Twitter account, EA announced that Russian teams are beginning to be removed from EA’s FIFA and NHL games. In other words, fifa 22, NHL 22, FIFA Mobile and FIFA Online, which are currently active, will not include the Russian national team or the Russian teams.
“EA Sports stands with the Ukrainian people and, like other voices from the football world, calls for peace and an end to the occupation of Ukraine,” the statement said.
In line with our partners at FIFA and UEFA, we have initiated the process of removing the Russian national team and all Russian teams from EA Sports products. We are also evaluating changes to other areas of our games. We will inform our player community in line with the actions we have taken, and we thank our players for their patience in preparing these updates.”
The official NHL 22 account also announced that both Russian and Belarusian teams will be removed from NHLS 22. Belarus is one of the few countries that supports Russia.
