Computer games have long been a tv show or a movie. In fact, how do they adapt the characters that we are so familiar with seeing on screens so badly, it is a subject to be written on volume. This time we’re going back a long way, first released in 1994, Earthworm Jim, which is set to make its comeback as a cartoon series. Earthworm Jim is coming to television for the second time, Variety reported.
The legendary Interplay company, which holds the rights to the game, decided to set up a new TV & film studio. The studio signed with APA for Earthworm Jim and commissioned Passion Picturesto produce the animation. Michel K. Parandi, who heads Interplay’s new studio, will also serve as a producer on this new cartoon series. Aaron Billet will also be in the creative department. Billet, who said he played Earthworm Jim as a child in the Genesis console, said he was very happy that they would bring this iconic character to the screen.
“I remember when I was a kid, I loved Earthworm Jim. There’s a lot of potential here, in this story, a lot of animals are fighting for power in the galaxy, where planet Earth is known only as a myth. It’s both unrealistic and humorous for him to seek meaning. But it’s also a process you can relate to.” Parandi officially confirmed the show.
Earthworm Jim was last made in 2010 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and the return of Jim, who we haven’t heard from in a long time, will hopefully extend to games. The show doesn’t yet have an official release date, but a first-look Jim interview was shared. Jim, who also graced screens as a cartoon from 1995-96, will hopefully beat the ratings monster this time.
