Electronic Arts stopped using its PGA Tour license in 2015, and six years later, it announced that they were working on a new game in the series. The release date announced at the time was the spring of this year, but in November last year the game’s release was postponed to an uncertain date.
EA did not disclose the duration and reason for this delay, so we were expecting a delay of several months. But the new announcement suggests that the game’s release date has been postponed by a full year. The announced new release date for the PGA Tour game is spring 2023.
In this statement, there is no explanation for the postponement, not even the mention of postponement. Fortunately, they’ve given a little more information about the game: The PGA Tour, which will “host all four major championships in the golf world exclusively,” will also feature events such as PGA Tour athlete tracking integration, The Players Championship and the FedExCup Playoffs.
The new PGA Tour game is being developed by EA;in NBA Live and the Tiburon studio, which also developed Madden; and will use the Frostbite engine.
