Echtra Games announced that they have finished working on Torchlight 3. The game, which came out in October last year, has not received any positive reviews, and now the review average on Steam looks 45% positive.
Echtra Games was acquired by Zynga in recent months. The studio announced that they had delivered the game to Perfect World Entertainment, which owns IP; I don’t think Perfect World will have a plan for Torchlight 3, at which point it seems unlikely to bring the game to the level of likability of previous games in the series.
The studio was founded in 2016 by Max Schaefer, who also worked on Diablo and Diablo 2, but the only game they released so far was Torchlight 3.
The studio’s next task is to help bring some of Zynga’s mobile-renowned brands to PCs and consoles, and to work on a cross-platform RSO.
