From Software;’s masterwork Elden Ring did not survive the speedrun community. In the early days, records of close to an hour later fell to 59 minutes. With the new strategies developed, the amount of time that went down to less than 30 minutes has recently dropped to 19 and 9 minutes, respectively. Distortion2’s new record is 6 minutes and 59 seconds!
Distortion2, who has long tried his luck in the “any% unrestricted” category of the game, eventually became the first player to finish the game in under 7 minutes. Thanks to various glitches, players who manage to get into Elden Beast’s room in a short time can overcome the last boss of the game with these techniques.
Distortion2 said it was the “craziest thing” he had ever done. On the other hand, it is worth remembering that strategies are not yet fully optimized. So in the coming days we may see the record reach a much lower time. For now, though, the record is Distortion2.
We can define the category “Any%unrestricted” as finishing the game quickly. So the goal in this category is to reach the final screen using all kinds of bugs and glitches.
