Last week, the minimum system requirements for Elden Ring were released on Steam; and then removed. Looking at the features there, for example, it said that the game required at least 12 GB of RAM, so most people thought that this was written by mistake, in fact, that the proposed system requirements, not minimum, would be like this.
When Elden Ring published the official PC requirements, we found that there were no mistakes at all. The game requires a minimum of 12 GB of RAM, Nvidia GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580 graphics card.
Moreover, the given image does not include information on the resolution of minimum and recommended configurations and which FPS. It wouldn’t be nice if players hoping to play the game at least 1080p/60fps saw a performance below that.
Normally, FromSoftware games would not require such high configurations, and the space they covered would be small. For example, if we look at the latest games, Dark Souls 3 (which is a very visually beautiful game) wanted 4 GB of RAM, GTX 750 Ti or Radeon HD 7950 graphics card and 20 GB of space, while Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice used the same configuration and increased the HD space only to 25 GB.
Elden Ring will also be available on PS4 and Xbox One, so the fact that he wants such high features on the PC makes me wonder if there is an optimization problem.
They said in a note that “these features apply to the day of release and may be updated in the future.” This again raises the same question, I wonder if they have not had enough time to optimize for the PC and are they considering overcoming this problem in the future?
February 25th, there’s not much left, we’ll get the answers to all these questions soon.
