With the increase in popularity of the crypto market, a new door has been opened for fraudsters. The latest target of the scammers, who have dropped a large number of people into their networks with both crypto coins and fake NFT projects, is Fortnite players, one of the most popular games in the world. Scammers, who started selling fake Fortnite cryptos intensively especially on Twitter, finally managed to attract Epic’s attention. Epic CEO Tim Sweeney announced on his social media account that legal proceedings will be initiated.
“There’s no Fortnite crypto. Twitter accounts promoting such a thing are scams. Epic;s lawyers are looking into the matter. And the crypto markets that made such a thing possible should be ashamed of themselves.” Sweeney confirmed that Epic has declared war against this fraudulent network. The market pool of the crypto money called Fortnite Token is around $ 11,175. These tokens, known as FNT Tokens, will probably be completely deleted from the market as a result of the lawsuit.
On the other hand, it was claimed that these cryptos only had a name similarity with Fortnite and did not harm the brand. It is even stated on the crypto page of the tokens that they set out on this path from a viral growth and the “meme” culture of the internet. Nevertheless, even the use of a product with Fortnite in it without the knowledge of the owner is a sufficient reason for the case. It seems that a challenging process will begin for Sweeney, who announced last October that the Epic Games Store would host blockchain games.
