Epic plans to turn Fortnite into a movie, The Information reported. Epic’s goal here is to establish an entertainment department that focuses on such scripted video programs.
Epic is looking for ways to grow its brands in different ways, as it has been hampered by ongoing legal battles, particularly apple, and the expansion of mobile games. One of these ways is to bring games to the cinema and television.
Epic transferred some executives from Lucasfilm last year, even appointing Jason McGatlin as head of “special projects” at Epic. McGatlin was also an executive producer of Disney’s “Star Wars” films.
There’s no concrete decision or construction at the moment, all of this is in the planning stages. Already, The Information’s sources have said that the film is possible and that discussions have been held about it. However, such a move would not be surprising, especially considering fortnite’s collaborations in the film world.
