Valve recently announced that games using NFT and blockchain technology have been removed from Steam and banned for the future. Epic Games and Tim Sweeney then came up with the opposite statement, saying that NFT games (and other games using blockchain technology) could be listed on the Epic Games Store.
Epic Games says it is open to working with developers to sell games that will use blockchain technology, NFT;s and cryptocurrencies in the Epic Games Store, although they will be subject to some restrictions. Tim Sweeney stated that their terms in this regard are “to comply with the relevant laws, to express all terms and conditions clearly and to have appropriate age restrictions.”
But Tim Sweeney said just a month ago that Epic would not be involved in the NFT because it was “full of scammers.”
Sweeney rebialed his statement by saying that Epic, the game developer, would have no business with the NFT; but epic, the technology firm, was open to developers using the technology.
It’s as if the only reason Epic is involved is because Steam has banned NFT games. We’ll see if it’s a wise decision.
