ESL Gaming, one of the world’s largest esports tournament organizers, was acquired by a Saudi Arabian fund. The same fund has added FACEIT; faceit, one of CS:GO’s standout platforms, to its arsenal, bringing together the world’s largest esports organizations under one roof.
According to friends at sports business journal, the fund for this acquisition has forked out $1.5 billion. The purchase has not yet been officially made, but all transactions have been initiated. This fund wants to build a massive umbrella organization by combining ESL and FACEIT.
This new group, ESL FACEIT, will be jointly managed by the CEO of both companies. The common goal of the merger is to join forces with two different organizations with extensive experience in different regions. In short, the Voltron of the esports world is about to form.
