Last week, Fall Guys was re-released as a free-to-play game , and in doing so, it overhauled the game’s monetization and progression systems. Fall Guys still has the seasonal Battle Pass, but daily, weekly, and long-term challenges have been added to the game to encourage players to log in every day. However, Fall Guys players are tired of the new progression systems, even going so far as to say that in some cases losing matches is more rewarding than trying and winning.
Fall Guys fans frustrated
The problem seems to stem from the fact that the Fall Guys Battle Pass progression is now built around daily and weekly challenges, and standard progression is navigating to the ground. Completing a daily or weekly challenge means that players can advance through one or more levels throughout the Battle Pass. But if Fall Guys players don’t complete a challenge or have already completed their challenges, then they only get a drop of progress.
A user on Reddit pointed out how little Battle Pass progress Fall Guys players earn under the new no-play system. Hold_my_cocoa user posts on Reddit about how much they win in a match if they lose in the first, second, third, fourth and fifth rounds, as well as when they win a crown. This situation does not seem to please the Fall Guys fans at all. While it’s ridiculous that losing five times in the first round could add up 120 points, there’s a deeper problem to acknowledge.
Regardless of how players score points, whether it’s 120, 107 or less, we find that progress is surprisingly slow. If moving from level 10 to level 11 requires about 500 points, that means Fall Guys players must earn five crowns to win a single level. Alternatively, they have to make 21 losses in the first round, 24 points each. It’s not hard to see what the Fall Guys are trying to do. While daily and weekly challenges make significant progress in the Battle Pass, even if gameplay is not maintained for long periods of time, the game’s priority is to get players logged into the game every day, even for an hour or two. If players don’t do this, the Fall Guys won’t reward them.
