Electronic Arts is alleged to have changed the name of the FIFA, where it has generated huge revenue through FUT for many years, especially as the debate over whether FIFA Ultimate Teamis actually a gamble has inflamed the debate.
Although EA tried to solve FUT’s over-luck by adding preview packages to the system, the discussions did not stop. Recently, word surfaced that Electronic Arts was planning to change FIFA’s name.
FIFA may be renamed EA Sports FC
On October 1st, EA signed documents for both the UK and European Intellectual Property Offices, and EA Sports FC booked its name for “computer game software,” Polygon reported. It is not known whether such a name will be the final name of the game, or if it has been taken for now, but the potential new name of the game looks like Manchester City, who have not been licensed.
Following Electronic Arts’ decision to rename FIFA, which is now almost certain, the years-long union between EA and the International Association of Football Federations will end. Peter Moore, a former EA executive, said Electronic Arts had done more useful work for the recognition and image of the FIFA name than the International Association of Football Federations itself.
