Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida doesn’t think Metaverse is fun.
In an interview with Japanese site Weekly Bunshun, Yoshida distances his work on MMORPG from the metaverse world.
Yoshida says of Metaverse: “To me, Metaverse is a system that replaces reality with a virtual world. That’s why I don’t think Metaverse has anything in common with fun.
In the Metaverse I’m thinking of, people will be able to use an avatar in virtual reality and go for a ride or shop in Shinjuku, just like in real life. It may seem like fun, but it’s not. Why would something that’s not fun in our real world be fun in the virtual world?”
When asked if she intends to work on a Metaverse project, Yoshida replies: “A Metaverse world should be a fun place in virtual reality. I have no plans at this time for this virtual world, which has nothing in common with entertainment.”
Although he tries to stay away from the world of Metaverse, Yoshida says he follows these developments.
