Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida shared new information about the development of the game. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the development of the game has been postponed by almost half a year. He also said that new information about the game would be announced in spring 2022.
Naoki Yoshida said of the game’s development:
We’ve assembled a team of talented people from around the world for XVI, the new game in the Final Fantasy series. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic we had to work from home. This delayed communication with our offices and raised various problems.
We have arrived in the final stages of the development of the game in 2021. We put a lot of effort into putting in the finishing touches. In this process, we worked on improving the quality of the graphics and general optimization.
We wanted to transfer our current plans for the game later this year but we had to postpone it a little longer. That’s why we’ll announce our current plan in spring 2022. I’m excited about this. I apologize to anyone who has been waiting and looking forward to learning more about Final Fantasy XVI.
Final Fantasy XVI is being developed for PlayStation 5.
