Initial performance reports on steam deck began to drop. Valve’s newly announced console will target 800p resolution and 30Fps in its standard version, PC Gamer reported. Valve believes that the device, which will have the latest AMD processor, can meet the necessity of modern gaming with a constant of 30 fps. Pierre-Loup Griffais, one of the developers of the device, explained the targets of the device.
First-hand information about Steam Deck
Pierre-Loup Griffais said of steam’s performance expectations for its new device:
“If the focus of players is on getting high resolution and high FPS across different platforms and resolutions, I think we can meet this expectation with our goal of 800p resolution and 30FPS,” he said.
However, Griffais is quoted as saying that “if necessary, we can make some compromise on performance for visual quality, but we have not yet focused on this issue”, considering the players who care about visual quality.
Writing from Steam Deck’s hardware engineers, Aldehayyat relies on perfromans to use AMD’s latest GPU and CPU on the device. Aldehayyat stated that they will use a new memory card called PDDR5 on steam deck, adding that Steam Deck will be one of the first products on the market to use this memory technology.
