The Marvel Cinematic Universeis less than a month away from watching its new chronologically old team, Eternals,as a film. However, the film was previewed and the lucky members of the press who watched it shared their first comments from the film on their social media accounts. Along with Eternals, commentators who say the MCU has a new mythology seem to have been impressed with the film. But there are also some critical criticisms and DCEU comparisons. The press embargo for the film, which will be screened at the Rome Film Festival on October 24th, would have been lifted at the time, but it wouldn’t hurt to get some information in advance.
Aaron Couch (The Hollywood Reporter): My god! There was a lot of explaining. If the Marvel movies were a Venn scheme, it would definitely be out of the clusters. Get ready for the most diverse MCU movie you’ve ever seen.
Erik Davis (Fandango): Marvel’s Eternals was speculatively weird and rich. With the new MCU mythology, this film seems to be separate from everything else. Actually, it’s a very refreshing feeling. There’s a little sentimentality in the film. Especially in sunset scenes, you can feel chloe zhao’s touch. The film was very affecting, both spiritually and emotionally.
Peter Sciretta (SlashFilm): Eternals was surprisingly epic, very beautiful and intense. In some of his scenes, you saw big movements. It occasionally felt like a DC movie (not to mention a review). Other than that, it wasn’t like any superhero movie we’ve ever seen. I wish I had a brighter reaction to offer you, but I left the movie with much more complex feelings.
Scott Mendelson (Forbes): Eternals flirts with being “an ordinary comic book movie,” but he can touch it a little bit. To put it best, Marvel was playing in the open world of DCEU. But it was based on classic superhero types.
Kirsten Acuna (Insider): Eternals will probably be the Marvel movie that will shock and surprise you the most. There are many variable and scenario transformations. Kumail Nanjiani was very funny in every scene he was in. As always, stay put until the LATEST scene.
Brandon Davis (ComicBook): Eternals is more than just a movie. Shot from a gigantic perspective, it feels different (and more emotional) visually than any Marvel job. He’s got laughter, he’s got great surprises, and this huge, crowd is at the heart of the story and explaining it. Chloe Zhao has a truly unique visual signature.
Scott Menzel (Hollywood Critics Association): Eternals is the Marvel version of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. It’s a film built on unknown characters, and in doing so, it’s a great success. Chloe Zhao is a masterpiece. I can easily say that it’s one of the greatest looking Marvel movies of all time. The post-credits scenes are really crazy.
Hearing such rave reviews about the MCU’s new team raises the excitement for the film. But it’s a little suspicious that almost everyone who’s seen it has praised the film as “very different.” It made me a little hairy again when they compared it to DC and got some praise from here. It’s best if we watch Eternals ourselves and decide if it’s really different or amazing. Those who do not want to see the film, which will be released on November 5th, can wait another 45 days after the release date and check out the version released on Disney+.
