A group of former Blizzard developers announced the creation of their own company, Notorious Studios.
All Notorious employees have previously worked on World of Warcraft, including two co-founders. Chris Kaleiki was a systems and classroom designer at Blizzard’s MMORPG, while Doug Frazer was a senior game engineer. Both left Blizzard in October last year.
The team is currently made up of eight people, and Kaleiki said he wants to increase the studio to 12 employees by the beginning of 2022, GamesBeat reported.
League of Legends developer Riot Games has invested in the new studio as part of a $5 million funding round led by Galaxy Interactive.
The investment will be aimed at developing and launching notorious’s first game, which is set to be a multiplayer RPG.
