Dark Passenger is a new studio founded by two former CD Projekt employees, Jakub Ben and Marcin Michalski. Both men worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its expansions: I served as the cinematic artist and drawing team coordinator, while Michalski later worked as a senior illustrator on Gwent and Thronebreaker. They are also external contributors to Cyberpunk 2077.
The first game of the new studio of this duo, although it does not yet have a name, will take players to Feudal Japan. This game, which will use Unreal Engine 5, is an online multiplayer game with both PvP and co-op PvE support. It will be played from a first-person perspective, offering a combination of action and stealth.
The game will have all the weapons you might want to see from this kind of Japanese-themed game (katana, short tanto, wakizashi sword, kusarigama, shuriken, kunai, etc.), and you will be able to perform exaggerated movements such as climbing a straight wall with shuko claws, jumping poles with a half-spear, and going over obstacles such as pole vaults.
The studio states that this is definitely not an MMO, this match-based game will have third-person footage in the first-person scenes. There will be no one-man section in the game except for the training dojo, but the studio is signaling that it can expand this universe in the future.
