Frogwares will release the new Sherlock Holmes game Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One on November 16. The studio has made successful Sherlock Holmes plays before, this time taking us back to Holmes” youth to give us a different experience.
Frogwares CEO Wael Amr, however, issued a statement expressing his displeasure with some of the comparisons he has seen in the game’s released trailers and videos.
“As shco’s release approaches, we see a lot of reviews that are excited about the game, which is really an amazing feeling. But in some reviews we also see that our work is compared to larger and more expensive games. We certainly understand the demand for technically flawless games. But when a team of our calibre creates a game, we have to prioritize the most important thing – an emotional experience greater than the sum of the technical parts.
Thanks to this mindset and understanding, we can improve our game without applying crunch. In addition, after 20 years of having to transfer some of our creations, we are now able to broadcast our own game. And that’s why our game costs $45, not $70.
Nevertheless, this is our biggest project to date in size, gameplay time, new systems, open world design and story. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve put forward. We hope you will love it too.”
This description actually accompanied the new “behind the scenes of story and cinematic images” video. In this video, the team explains the techniques they use in various scenes of the game and why they use them, which I have watched with great interest every moment of the video, and I recommend it to you. The use of light and ambient compositions has been extremely successful.
