Game Builder Garage for Nintendo Switch, first released on the Nintendo eShop on June 11, will be boxed in retailers across Europe from September 10. Check out the Game Builder Garage (Nintendo Switch) trailer for a closer look at the Game Builder Garage and colorful Nodon characters. Check out the video to get an idea of the game from two developers working on the game: Ask the Developer Vol. 1, Game Builder Garage. For aspiring game creators who want to try Game Builder Garage, a free demo version can be downloaded from the Nintendo eShop.
Featuring a series of interactive lessons that guide players step by step, Game Builder Garage allows everyone to learn the basic concepts of creating video games from nintendo’s minds without the need for prior experience. Through these lessons, players will discover how to build games from scratch by placing colorful creatures named Nodon and connecting them together. Game Builder Garage has dozens of Nodons, each with its own unique function and a personality to match. With Nodon’s help, anyone can quickly move from a blank page to a video game prototype with programming concepts presented in a fun, accessible and visually centric way.
Once players progress through the lessons, they will be well equipped to start bringing their own game ideas to life in Free Programming mode. In both lessons and Free Programming, it is possible to switch between the programming screen and the game screen at the simple press of a button, so that enthusiastic creators can tamper with their programming and quickly test their ideas in the game.
Anyone who wants some inspiration can swap games and download games with friends and family over the internet or via a local wireless connection.* This can be a great way for players to showcase some of their own creations and also control games created by others. It is even possible to examine the downloaded games in Free Programming mode and thus even open the curtain on the programming used – a great way for players to review each other’s games and learn new tricks.
Game Builder Garage can be controlled by a Joy-Con controller, Nintendo Switch Pro Controller or Nintendo Switch Lite**, while it is also possible to create games using a compatible mouse plugged into the USB port in the Nintendo Switch slot.
