Returnal has a very short time to find out if it can be a PS5 game that meets expectations. As review copies of the game were shared in advance, gameplay videos gradually began to arrive. You can see many videos on Youtube. IGN also posted a 17-minute video:
The video offers a section from the starting part of the game. Predictably, we were initially given parts of getting used to the controls, followed by the first clashes. When you connect enemies to the series, the adrenaline level rises, which allows the character to gain new status effects step by step and eventually fire at all corners of the screen in one shot. Then there’s what we might call the first boss battle, an introduction to the matter of death and resurrection, which can be seen as the most basic mechanic of the game.
At one point in the video, information is given about how to obtain an ‘ether’, while also mentioning completing ‘daily challenges’. We’ll see what kind of missions these are going to be, and we’ll see more detail when the game comes out.
Returnal will debut for PS5 on April 30.
