Gears of War 4 and Gears 5 developer The Coalition announced the transition to the Unreal Engine 5 game engine with the next generation.
The studio is currently working on multiple projects using Unreal Engine 5, but we won’t be hearing about them anytime soon.
“Switching to a new game engine is a big deal and we will not be announcing any new projects and constructions for a while,” the statement said.
The multiplayer part of Gears 5 will continue to be supported along with new characters, maps, and special events.
