Perhaps you’ve come across an allegation recently involving Elden Ring and George RR Martin. George RR Martin supposedly used his initials in the names of the bosses in the game. VG24/7 even reported that “what an idiot he created, he chooses his demigod names to keep his initials.”
In fact, that news didn’t stop there: “If you’re a well-known author of one of the most iconic works of fantasy literature, you’re entitled to such ego gratification. But the fact that everyone, possibly Even Miyazaki , was instrumental in this unpleasant joke makes all this even more disturbing.” It’s a “a madman threw a rock in a well” story.
The bosses who use the initials GRM in the game are as follows:
- Godwyn
- Godfrey
- Gideon
- Radagon
- Radahn
- Ranni
- Marika
- Maliketh
- Mohg
George RR Martin posted a statement on his blog, saying:
“There’s a weird story going around the Internet about me hiding my initials in Elden Ring because some of the characters’ names start with R, G or M. I’m going to say, “What? Seriously?”” I just heard about this. I’ve been writing stories since 1971, and since then I’ve been giving the characters names that start with R and G and M… Along with the other 23 letters in the alphabet! It’s not easy to find names, especially the Song of Ice and Fire uses a lot of names, so I like to give family members and close relatives names they have in common. But seriously, why would I hide my name in the game? My name is already in the game, one of the creators! Elden Ring is an exciting enough game, there is no need to make things up”
Anyway, that’s the conspiracy theory:)
