Warner Bros. Montreal found a way to change the biography when Batgirl’s biography was the target of criticism in the Gotham Knights game.
The character biography section of Gotham Knights’ official site, which will be released later this year, reads: “The death of her father encouraged her to train harder and recover from her wounds so she could return to active duty as Batgirl.”
Of course, for someone with a spinal cord injury, it is a bit absurd to say that he “got rid of his wounds by training”.
Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner James Gordon, is shot by the Joker ;d Alan Moore’s comic book Batman: The Killing Joke and is paralyzed from the waist down. The following year, it was recreated by editor Kim Yale and writer John Ostrander as Oracle , a computer scientist and information-provider character who helped Batman through the shadows.
In the New 52 comics, he regained the ability to move after an experimental surgery and plenty of physical therapy.
Following the criticism, the game’s creative director Patrick Redding says, “Barbara has had a lot of surgeries, followed by a lot of physical therapy and pain management.” In light of this, the biography has been changed as follows: “Barbara, who recovered from her wounds with the support of intensive training and rehabilitation, returned to active duty as Batgirl.”
