Grasshopper Manufacture is a studio best known for the Killer is Dead and No More Heroes series. The studio’s founder and CEO, Goichi Suda (also known as Suda51), mentioned his plans for the next 10 years in an interviewwith VGC. Apparently, they intend to spend 10 years full of old and new.
In the water; In addition to resurrecting the studio’s old IPs, he says, some of the firms they have worked with in the past (e.g. Nintendo) may also attempt to obtain licenses for their major brands or to do joint business. They also plan to create new IPs.
In the water; “In the next 10 years, we plan three new games, three new IP. We’ve already started the work of the first one. However, I cannot give any information yet.” Although their games cannot be fully defined as an AAA, they will not be as small-scale as some of their previous games, but they will also develop some games that can be evaluated in the AA category.
He also said that he had ideas for his old games, such as reboots or remakes, and that they could try something new with the right IPs from the right companies. He also underlined that they do not have the rights to some of the games they have developed in the past – which we can call Suda as games that reflect their style, Killer7 and No More Heroes are in this group. Therefore, they will have to cooperate in order to continue them.
Grasshopper, who has been trying to survive on smaller-scale jobs since leaving GungHo in 2018, looks set to take steps to grow again from now on. For this reason, it is understood that they want to take advantage of the brands at their disposal, use their partners’ brands to offer new games and bring new IPs to the market. Let’s see what happens to gamers’ shares here.
