Take2, one of the largest companies in the gaming industry, shared GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 sales figures in a statement. Announcing its 3rd quarter 2021 financial reports, the company announced that GTA 5 sales were a great success, surpassing 155 million units.
GTA 5 sales figure topples 155 million
GTA 5, which has been shifted to 2022 with the announcement of the next generation version, continues to progress unstoppably in sales figures despite surpassing three generations. Finally, 2nd quarter sales were announced last August, and GTA 5 sales exceeded 150 million. In other words, the game continued to be successful, selling more than 5 million copies in just 3 months.
Considering that even the newly released games did not reach these figures in such a long time, the fact that a game eight years after its release date still sells in this way is an indication of why Rockstar Games and Take2 are taking GTA 6 so slowly. Moreover, it is possible to say that the earnings from GTA Online are much higher than the sales figure.
On the other hand, when we look at the sales figure of Red Dead Redemption 2, another important game of the company, we see that it has surpassed 39 million. Red Dead Redemption 2 sales were announced last August at 38 million. So in the quarter, Red Dead Redemption 2 managed to sell another 1 million. The Red Dead Redemption series has surpassed 60 million sales with these new figures. Total sales of the GTA series reached 355 million, while sales of the Red Dead Redemption series surpassed62 million in total.
