Ebb Software has announced that SCORN, a horror adventure game inspired by H.R. Giger, has been postponed until 2022. The developer team denied that the game was in “development hell.”
“We often hear the term “development hell.” This term should be used for projects that change their main idea or scale in the middle of the development process and cannot keep up with it. This term does not fit our products. In our case we have made a lot of mistakes and we will do even more in the future, but that is normal for a new and inexperienced team like us. By mid-2018, we’ve done all the work we’ve done all over again, throwing away approximately 90%. It’s all about making the game what we want to do, not publishing it on that date just because we gave it a release date. If the game is not ready, it is not.”
So you see, Ebb Software has overhauled the whole game from the beginning, so we haven’t seen any videos of the game etc. in a long time. But despite all this, they say the game is not in development hell, so they rely on roadmaps for the future.
The game’s new release date is 2022, but no windows have been given. But they also said that the official announcement of the postponement would be made on December 10th, which, frankly, seemed strange to me.
