After cdpr and capcom, Electronic Arts was also the victim of hacking attacks. Last week, The Witcher 3 Next Gen and Cyberpunk 2077 source codes were shared via torrent, a similar situation could happen to Electronic Arts.
In addition to FIFA 21;’s source code, the hacker group that attacked EA has also obtained Frostbite Engine source code and tools, VICE reported. The group is also said to have EA Frameworks and SDKs.
Hackers say they have data about 780 GB in size and are trying to sell them on underground forums. Whether or not the sale occurs, there is a very good chance that these files will be spread.
Electronic Arts confirmed the hacking attack, but also stressed that no information about the players had been leaked.
“We were attacked by a hacker who stole some source code and the tool, but no player data was accessed, so we can say that the privacy of the players is not at risk. We have made some improvements to safety following this incident and do not expect this leak to affect our games or business. We are also cooperating with authorities and experts in the ongoing criminal investigation.”
