Hades, arguably last year’s best game, made history by becoming the first video game to win an award at the annual Hugo Awards for best science fiction and fantasy work of the previous year.
Developed by Supergiant Games, Hades made its debut after nearly two years of early access and literally made its mark in the gaming world. Using an incredible storytelling technique, the game offered a full experience with both visuals and unforgettable music. Naturally, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that he won the Hugo Prize.
The Hugo Awards have followed an expansion policy that has gone beyond classical literature in recent years, and categories such as Best Fanzin and Best Fancast have also been presented. This year, for now, it’s “one time; the video games category has also been added, time will tell if this will continue.
Other Hugo Award nominees included Spiritfarer, The Last of Us 2, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Blaseball.
I wonder who would have won the award if the games had been nominated for the Hugo Award in previous years.
