UNSC Pelican from the Halo series comes to Microsoft Flight Simulator. Microsoft made the announcement during the Bethesda Games Showcase, which aired live on YouTube on Sunday. Microsoft also showed that the first officially licensed fictional aircraft added to the realistic simulation game flew in space.
The 40th Anniversary Edition will be free
Microsoft Flight Simulator players will be able to download and play the add-on for free. Pelican, also known as Dropship77, Troop Carrier, is capable of both space and atmospheric flight. The aircraft is widely used for the point docking of both troops and vehicles, but when properly equipped it can also be used in a ground support role. The aircraft’s signature weapon is a jaw-mounted autocannon controlled by the co-pilot.
It is also the 40th anniversary of Microsoft Flight Simulator, which was announced on Sunday. The Anniversary Edition will be a free update coming in November. The Wright Flyer will feature airframes beloved by numerous fans from the series’ 40-year history, including the Spirit of St. Louis, DC-3, De Havilland Beaver and Airbus A310. The update also brings helicopters and gliders, including the Bell-407.
Also in its news release on Sunday, Microsoft stated that the game will have an entirely new subsystem that will help enable these advanced aircraft.
