The BlackWidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed is Razer’s first 65% form factor keyboard. As you know, 60% form factor keyboards are now quite common, but although they take up as much space as birds on the desktop, especially the lack of arrow keys and the fact that various functions are assigned to other keys was a source of discomfort for gamers who were used to these functions.
Of course, this keyboard with a 65% form factor still doesn’t have a numeric keyboard or top-row function keys, but both the arrow keys are nicely placed, and there are single rows of Del, Pg Up, Pg Dn and Ins keys. The widths of the Shift, Alt, Ctrl and Fn keys on the right side are naturally shorter, but if you suspect that these keys will be small to your finger, there are full-size counterparts of these keys on the left side. So this creates a beautiful form factor without disturbing the ergonomics of the keys, especially for gamers.
Now that we’ve clarified the form factor thing, let me tell you three things you need to know about this keyboard.
First of all, the BlackWidow V3 is a mechanical keyboard as you know, and you have the option of two different switches: green and yellow. I personally like green switches more in terms of sound and feedback, but before buying this type of keyboard, it’s a great benefit to try out the switches or watch videos that make audio comparisons.
Secondly, this is a Hyperspeed keyboard. When you use it with a 2.4G receiver, it provides incredibly low latency, so you really can’t feel the difference from a wired keyboard. I am sure it goes without saying how important this is, especially in games. But that doesn’t mean the only thing the keyboard shines at is the 2.4G connection; Its performance is also very good with Bluetooth. With BT you can connect up to three devices, and there’s a detachable USB cable in case that’s not enough. I paired it with a 2.4G receiver to my computer and BT to my phone and TV, and as you can imagine, it’s easy to switch between them. With such a small keyboard, it is a great convenience to be able to manage the different media components you need.
The third is the ghost keypad! My version is Phantom Edition and this keypad is one of my favorite features of the keyboard. I previously explained what this keypad is like in my Razer Phantom Keycap Upgrade Set review. On the desktop, a pitch black keyboard looks really sleek, then you power the computer and the environment is bright! The excess transparent area of this keypad gives very good results in this type of keyboard. That’s what I meant when I said, “BlackWidow has a perfect glow.”
However, there is one point you need to pay attention to about this keyboard, and that is the wrist support. Razer’s wrist rests are still three types: full-size keyboards, mini keyboards (60%), and tenkeyless keyboards. So the wrist support of a mini keyboard that you will get is a little small compared to this keyboard. This is not a big problem in terms of use, but visually it is not so pleasing to the eye, unfortunately..
This keyboard, which you will mostly use wirelessly, has a battery life of about 200 hours with RGB turned off, and it takes about 5 hours to require it from scratch. However, if you decide to use the RGB lighting at 100% brightness, then the battery time is reduced to around a day. If you say that I plug it into the charger at night and use it during the day, it is not a problem, but it may still be more efficient to keep the lighting value at medium levels.
Let’s come to the usefulness of beans… Sorry, the material part of the business. This is indeed an expensive keyboard, because it is not yet sold in Turkey. When we look at the prices on Razer’s own site, we see that it says 190€ (210€ for Phantom) next to the keyboard. If you add 20% tax and shipping to this, it has a price that rises to levels that you do not want to calculate at all. At this point, distributors have a big job. For example, 140€ Blackwidow V3 is sold for 1400 TL, 110€ Ornata V2 is 800 TL, 70€ Cynosa V2 is sold around 600 TL in our country. Therefore, I can say that this keyboard is one of the best keyboards you can use for your daily work and games if it is offered for sale with a similar exchange rate account (roughly 2000 TL with an account). But otherwise, if you think that I will bring it from abroad, buy it from Amazon or something, it will open a very deep gap in your wallet and it is not worth that gap.
