Sam Barlow, creator of Her Story and Telling Lies, unveiled his new game Immortality at the Future Games Show late last night. We knew this game previously under the name Project Ambrosio, and steam may even be on your wish list (it was on my list).
Immortality is a Hollywood mystery, about actress Marissa Marcel. Marcel appeared in three films, all three of which were not released, and then Marcel disappeared completely. We’ll probably put the pieces together again throughout the game to find out why Marcel disappeared and why the movies weren’t released.
The story of the game is really interesting, because Marcel didn’t make these three films recently. In 1968, she played Matilda in M.G. Lewis’s adaptation of the famous gothic novel The Monk. In 1970, she starred in Minsky, about the death of a famous artist, in which she played the muse suspected of committing the murder.
Marcel’s third film, which never sees the light of day, is in 1999. It’s a thriller called Two of Everything that explores the relationship between a successful pop star and his body stuntman.
Barlow says Immortality is even bigger than Telling Lies; and he’s been accompanied by some of the most successful names in his writing: Amelia Gray of Mr Robot; Allan Scott of Queen’s Gambit; and Barry Gilford of Wild at Heart.
Immortality will be released in 2022.
