The World of Assassination trilogy of the
Hitman series ended with Hitman 3, which debuted earlier this year; it’s fair to say that the game has performed well in reviews and received very positive responses from gamers. It seems that this table is reflected in the sales performance.
Hakan Abrak, CEO of
IO Interactive, said in a reporting with Gamesindustry.biz, underlines that Hitman 3 is not only the best average game in the series, but also the most profitable game. According to the shared information, Hitman 3 was 300% more commercially successful than Hitman 2.
World of Assassination failed to live up to the expectations of Square Enix, the first game in the trilogy, resulting in IO Interactive and Square Enix parting ways. The finale of the trilogy paid off in its first week and went dark; it appears that it managed to break the record of the series with its sales in the following period.
Hakan Abrak said, “If there’s one thing we know how to do as IO, it’s a Hitman game. It’s like saying, “I know Kung Fu,” we know Hitman.” What a great analogy he made, 🙂
The success of theHitman series has also relieved io interactive’s hand, they have obviously announced the creation of a third studio and the opening of IO Barcelona. Like studios in Copenhagen and Malmö, it will be involved in the development of IO’s James Bond game Project 007, while also contributing to work on a new IP that has not yet been announced.
We look forward to the work thatIO Interactive will sign in the coming period and we are closely following it
