Microsoft is attempting to strengthen its store on the PC.
It has been announced that the net revenue ratio to the developer and publisher will be increased from 70% to 88% for all PC games available in the Microsoft Store.
In this way, the gamers will earn more money from the sale of the game. Microsoft will receive 12% of the revenue from the sales of each game. Same as the Epic Games Store.
The new income distribution rates will be introduced as of August 1, 2021.
In a survey of more than 3,000 developers at the Game Developers Conference today, 97% of developers said that the 70% to 30% revenue distribution of platforms like Steam is unfair.
Microsoft also announced the arrival of a new Xbox Game Pass PC app in the coming months. It will offer improved setup and faster downloads.
