Indie game developer Rob Hale, also known as Squid in a Box, died of cancer earlier this month, and the developer’s last wish was to distribute Waves and Waves 2 on Steam for free.
Hale;s partner CJ, who published a statement on the Waves 2 Steam forums, fulfilled Hale;s request and announced that both games will be available for free from now on.
“Rob started thinking about this when his health deteriorated in the last two months, and I hope you’ll accept it as a parting gift for those who haven’t played these games yet,” CJ said, adding that he has signed a pretty nice explanation, which I recommend reading.
Hale;s first project, Waves, was published in 2011 and has received 94% positive reviews in more than 1000 reviews. Waves 2 was still in early access.
