Valve patent information shared by Pavel Djundik, creator of SteamDB; The most important of these is the system that will allow players to download games while playing them. This system, which also appears in some console games, is planned to be widely used on Steam.
Thanks to this system, Steam will track the reading operations of the game’s exe file to map which data is accessed and how often. It will then use this telemetry information to prioritize these files during downloads and allow players to start the game while the download is in progress.
This technology will also allow Steam to get rid of unused files without disturbing the integrity of the game, thereby saving space.
Valve tried downloading the game in small pieces with Mortal Kombat 10 in 2015, but it didn’t do very well, causing various problems. With this new patent, it can be very nice if the same system used in consoles can bring steam;
