Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan said at this week’s Sony CES 2022 press conference that the PlayStation Studios family currently has 17 studios working on first-party games.
Ryan: “We have a total of 17 studios under the PlayStation Studios family. These teams unleash their creative abilities and reflect their own understanding of innovation into games. We look forward to presenting these innovations to the players,” he said.
In addition, Ryan said: “Innovations in PlayStation 5 are also expanding the console experience. In our first year, we added new features to the console, such as 3D audio and game sharing between PS5 and PS4. This year we also plan to introduce a new tournament feature on PS5. What’s new on PlayStation also unlocks new entertainment experiences. This means that we will lead the way in discovering new technologies.”
Big first-party PlayStation games coming out this year include Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West, which will be released for PS5 and PS4 on February 18th, and Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 7, which will be released for PS5 and PS4 on March 4. Santa Monica also has God of War Ragnarök for PS5 and PS4 later this year.
