Hollywood’s habit of continuing from new era habits to old movies is relentless. The 1980s cult sci-fi/horror film The Thing could also be a sequel in the coming years. Veteran director John Carpenter mentioned in a recent interview that he has some plans for The Thing. Carpenter told Fandom.

“I’m just thinking, there’s a little bit more stories to tell. I’m not going to give you the story details. However, there have been some discussions regarding The Thing. In the end, we imagined what we could do. Because we know that the two main characters, Childs (Keith David) and MacReady (Kurt Russell), are still alive. These two survived at the end of The Thing, maybe they still are.”

Of course, the sequel to The Thing also needs to be persuaded by lead Kurt Russell. John Carpenter didn’t give much detail. Asked if Russell would return, the grandmaster managed to leave fans wondering, “I don’t know, maybe.”

It was first released in 1951 as The Thing From Another World, and later became a movie legend with The Thing in 1982. We’ve seen The Thing before as it adapts to the world of comics and games. The game, which was released in 2002, still remains in the memory.
