With the beginning of a new era in Warner Bros., the first news that came to the agenda was the continuation of Joker. There were so many unknowns. However, it seems that all this enigma has been replaced by good news for the studio. Director Todd Phillips, with the visuals he shared on his Instagram account, announced that the script of the second film was over and signaled that he was re-signed with Joaquin Phoenix.
Folie a Deux, chosen as the title of the sequel, takes its name from a psychiatric syndrome. People who suffer from the syndrome, which means insanity for two, are caught up in a world of illusions of their own, usually two or more people. This choice of name naturally brings to mind the questions “Will the Joker have a new assistant and will this be Harley Queen again?!”
In the post shared by Phillips, we also see Joaquin Phoenix reading the script. This means that the Oscar-winning actor has been convinced for the sequel. Other reports from the Warner camp indicated that Todd Phillips’ vision would dominate the DCEU’s future. Let’s see if after the Joker’s two-man madness, there will be a wind of madness in the DCEU (though how logical it is to talk about mental health in a universe whose touchstone is Batman, it’s a separate topic of discussion).
