Shinji Hashimoto, brand manager of the Final Fantasy series and developer of the Kingdom Hearts series, has announced his retirement from his position at Square Enix after a 28-year absence.
Hashimoto said in a Twitter post: “Thank you all for all your hard work. I retired on May 31. I would like to thank everyone who has helped me during my tenure. From now on, I want to support Square Enix as a big fan. Thank you very, very much.”
Hashimoto first rolled up his sleeves for the original Front Mission game for Super Famicom. Accordingly, he joined the Squaresoft team in April 1994. For more than a decade, he worked as the brand manager of the Final Fantasy series and the lead creator of the Kingdom Hearts series. He also served as one of the directors of Square Enix Holdings.
