Kinguin’s pre-ordering of Frostpunk 2 last week drew a serious backlash from the game’s developer, 11 Bit Studios. “A shitty con man, another crook selling Frostpunk 2 under the Kinguin umbrella for pre-order?! Let’s raise our voices to stop this,” 11 Bit Studios posted.
11 Bit Studios, which said that “we do not even know the price of our game yet, we do not have a game code”, did not like the launch of a game that did not yet have information such as release date, age rating, price. “They’re selling something that doesn’t exist,” the message said.
In response, Kinguin apologized for having “unconfirmed information” on the listing, but did not remove the game from sale in the first place. There was even a PEGI rating on the list that didn’t even exist yet, whatever page they’ve prepared now.
Kinguin removed some information from the page as the next step, saying that “arrangements have been made for visitors to the page to clearly understand that the game is only pre-ordered.”
Although 11 Bit Studios was not happy with the outcome, it was hard to prosecute Kinguin, he said. After all, dealing with a company headquartered in Hong Kong is not easy, but with serious reactions from players outside 11 Bit Studios, Kinguin issued a statement and removed the Frostpunk 2 page.
Kinguin did not mention Frostpunk 2 in the statement, but said that “based on the feedback we received from the gaming community last week, we will review our criteria for taking pre-orders at Kinguin.net.”
The problem seems to have been solved for now.
