Konami Code, one of the most well-known, most used, and subjects of numerous easter eggs in video game history, has turned 35!
Konami Code, which first appeared in Gradius in April 1986, gives you all the power-ups in the game if you press certain keys respectively. However, the code obtained the real explosion with Contra. In Contra, a very difficult game, you gained 30 extra lives when you used this code.
Konami Code, which has since been used in many KONAMI games such as Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Dance Dance Revolution and some other studios, is now part of popular culture. In fact, in recent years, this code has even been used in one of the Fisher Price toys.
The creator of this code, Kazuhisa Hashimoto, one of the most important figures in Konami’s history, is no longer with us, and he died last year at the age of 61.
Several videos have also been released to celebrate this special anniversary of the Konami Code in the form of Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Right, B, A, Start:
