According to Metal Gear’s official Twitter account, Konami is preparing to relist the Metal Gear games that have been removed from sale. “The Metal Gear series, which aired on July 13, 1987, is celebrating its 35th anniversary. We are preparing for the resumption of sales of the games that have been temporarily suspended,” Konami said.
Although the message does not mention any games, in late 2021, Konami stopped selling Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 in digital stores because the license for the historical archival footage used in these games had to be renewed.
The list of all games that have been removed from sale is as follows:
- Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD Edition (PS3)
- Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD Edition (PS3)
- Metal Gear Solid HD Edition (PS3)
- Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD Edition (Vita)
- Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD Edition (Vita)
- Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (Vita)
- Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (PlayStation Now)
- Metal Gear Solid HD Edition: 2 & 3 (Xbox 360)
- Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D (3DS)
- Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance (GOG.com)
- Metal Gear Solid 2 HD for Shield TV (Nvidia Shield)
- Metal Gear Solid 3 HD for Shield TV (Nvidia Shield)
Konami will probably announce which of these will be listed back shortly.
