Introductory article for the game:
Layers of Fear 2 is a first-person psychological horror game that highlights elements of discovery and story. The actors direct a Hollywood actor who heeds an enigmatic director’s call to star in a film shot on an ocean ship.
All the cameras are focused on you, the center of the stage. You’re not playing a character, you’re that character. The role to be played is yours alone and yours alone. It’s just written for you. You’re greeted with silence. The director doesn’t have shouting. No one’s chasing you to be this version of yourself. You can’t think of anything but a desire to act, but the script pages are empty.
Your past has helped you shape who you are today by imposing on you the skills you need to develop your craft. The same past has etched deep wounds not only outside where the world can see you, but also in a place so deeply embedded that it loses its shape. You suppress those memories, but you let experiences guide you to who or what you’re going to play.
As you stand silently under the spotlight, the darkness surrounds you, the only sound that can be heard other than your heartbeat is the distant sound of the waves hitting the ship, and the sounds of cameras pointed at you to immortalize this moment.
A deep and dominating voice rises from a distance. game.
