In the unique atmosphere of LEGO games, I enjoy playing stories that we’ve seen quite seriously so far in their pure form. Lego Star Wars, which has saved my life, especially thanks to PSP, is always another. When The Skywalker Saga was announced, I was fascinated by the first trailer because it looked full not only as a LEGO game but also as a complete Star Wars game.
As the release date approached, we came up with better details from the game, and I finally got the chance to play the game for the first time at the preview event. I don’t want to talk big because I can only play for an hour, but the game looks like it’s going to give me more than I ever imagined! When the humorous part of the game was preserved and the fighting system broke new ground, I had love at first sight (or at first glance, according to this article).
The biggest event of the LEGO Star Wars games before that was playing epic moments in movies in LEGO form and ultimately completing movie stories. But The Skywalker Saga goes too far in two things. The first involves all three periods (The Original Trilogy, the Prequel Trilogy and the Disney trilogy we want to forget), so even if nothing else, we have a lego adventure of exactly nine movies. Second, a world so detailed that it captivates a Star Wars fan.
The unique atmosphere of the film adventures has been very successfully preserved. But perhaps the least interesting part of the game is these movie adventures. We have a huge Star Wars open world with hundreds of different LEGO Star Wars characters at our disposal. In fact, not only planets, but also entire space are infested with LEGO ships. Space wars seem to be a big part of this open world. The beautifully thought-out, subtle Star Wars details are also placed to delight fans like me.
Even LEGO Characters Are Classy.
One of the details that impressed me most in the game was the added RSOs. So much so that our little LEGO characters now have classes. For example, the likes of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn and Luke Skywalker have their own strengthening tree as Jedi. Here it is possible to strengthen everything from the running speed of the characters to their combos. Or rather thoughtful characters like Imperial Stormtroopers or Han Solo, who wore a Stormtrooper costume on their way to leia’s rescue, are considered “Villian”, the villain category.
There are certain things that each character can do, and that’s where the replayability of the game comes in. There are many details and bonuses hidden in the sections of movies independent of the open world. To access these bonuses, once you finish the story with its regular characters, you need to play freely and replay with tons of LEGO characters in our pockets. For example, some of the doors in leia’s death star episode are only accessible thanks to Sith characters that you can open later….
Shota’s Interpreter C-3PO
Since we don’t have the Sith at the time, we say next time and finish the episode normally. Since the episodes are already familiar with the movies, I want to talk a little bit about what I see out of chapter. As you can imagine in the open world, there are many alien races, and they don’t speak the same language as your characters. So, what if these guys are going to give us an important assignment? If you immediately select the nearest protocol droid from the character selection screen and give these friends an intense dose of C-3PO, you can find the necessary tasks or hidden LEGO boost pieces hidden on the map.
These subtle but amazing details were plenty of gameplay video shown to us and even in just one episode we played. For example, the mission took you to Tatooine, but do you hate sand? You have a chance to go into space right now and take a look around. In space, a little smuggler can tell you he’s too scared of the Empire and ask you to smuggle goods to Hoth by squirming the money. Of course, when you go to Hoth afterwards, it’s inevitable that a space war with plenty of LEGO will await you. There are plenty of fun side missions not only on planets but also in space, and for a LEGO game, such a level of detail looks amazing.
Kombolu LEGO
One of the most bizarre innovations of The Skywalker Saga has been the fighting system. Our characters no longer have the standard 3 LEGO hearts. There’s a real life bar you know. The same goes for enemies, and they take different damage depending on where you shoot them! For example, if you go into the trench with Han Solo (yes, there’s a trench system in the game), you break the helmet of the incoming Stormtroopers and then shoot them in the head. So even if Han didn’t hit it for the first time, it’s definitely the last time he hits it. There’s been a lot of progress not only in range fighting, but also in melee.
Now you can make combos in melee, whether you have a lightsaber around your waist or your fists like Leia. Of course, when you think of combos, don’t think of anything like Devil May Cry right away, I’m talking about a LEGOsal combo. Enemy characters’ artificial intelligence is also advanced, so if you spam the same key, it won’t go into block mode and get damaged. So get creative, bang the LEGO apark and throw the enemy into the air, then pull yourself into the enemy with the grapling hook and smash yourself into pieces by beating the log. Every fighting character (some characters, such as protocol droids, can’t fight) has both melee and ranged attacks. The lightsaber-throwing recall, especially when fighting the Jedi, has been the most satisfying since the Jedi Academy!
LEGO Humor at its peak
The most important detail in a LEGO game is the sense of humor. Normally, the characters don’t have voiceovers, so we’re used to seeing great scenes with memes and physical comedy. I was wondering if they were going to go for “punchline” jokes because there’s a voiceover in The Skywalker Saga, but I was wrong. That classic LEGO humour stays in place, and even in my brief gaming experience, I’ve seen scenes that make me laugh a lot. Especially leia, there’s a Darth Vader joke in the rescue department that it’s really great. The team of screenwriters showed they dominated the Star Wars atmosphere.
The addition of voiceovers to the game also affected the atmosphere in a much more positive way than I thought. Obi-Wan and Luke’s dialogue, cute droids and, of course, the unlovely C-3PO interjects, and a lego star wars game full of humor. It’s not long before the game’s out. On April 5th, we’ll get the largest LEGO game in history and one of the best Star Wars games ever seen. I hope that the parts of the game that are not shown to us are just as much fun, that we will spend a lot of time at the beginning and get acquainted with the mysterious LEGOs in the galaxy.
