Lollipop Chainsaw Remake producer Yoshimi Yasuda has made several statements on Twitter to address fans’ concerns about the remake.
Yoshimi Yasuda, the former CEO of Kadokawa Games, left the studio in May to found Dragami Games and announced the remake of the cult game Lollipop Chainsaw as his first project.
However, both Suda51, the creative director of the original game, and James Gunn, one of the lead writers of the game, said that they had nothing to do with this new game. On top of that, when it was announced that the game would have a new soundtrack and include a more realistic graphic design, it naturally took the fans of the game a concern.
Yasuda said in summary, with the exception of Suda51 and Gunn:
- The goal of the Lollipop Chainsaw Remake project is not to make a new Lollipop Chainsaw game, but to make it easier for those who want to play the game.
- We couldn’t add 16 of the licensed songs, and they were songs that contributed greatly to the feel of the original game. That’s why we decided to make a remake, not a remaster.
- Lollipop Chainsaw;s story is one of the biggest reasons why the original game is loved, so the story won’t be changed in any way.
- By a more realistic approach to graphics, we mean that we will take advantage of the more advanced rendering technologies in the current generation consoles.
- We don’t plan to change Juliet’s design, and the assumptions that we think so have no basis. We designed Juliet a decade ago, through trial and error, and we’re more committed to that model than anyone else.
- We have no intention of censoring the sexual content of the game, but we have not yet discussed this with the platform owners. Our intention is to keep the game as faithful to the original version as possible.
We will see the Lollipop Chainsaw Remake in 2023.
