Max Payne and the remakes of 1 and 2 are on the way! I mean, at least there’s been approval to start the project. The two games, which will be presented in a package, are not expected to be released anytime soon. Remedy underlined that the project is currently only in the “concept design” phase.
Max Payne 1 and 2 to be rebuilt
Remedy, the producer of the first two games, presented Rockstar with the idea of remaking the games. Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser was impressed with the idea and was assured that Remedy would be given all the financial support it needed to regenerate the games. More bluntly, Remedy states that the remakes of the first 2 Max Payne games will be the same as the “usual AAA quality Remedy games”.
Remedy will reportedly use the Northlight engine, which it used for control, one of the most successful games of the last period. Max Payne came out a few years after the first Matrix film and introduced the famous “bullet time” system to the gaming world. This system, which can be described very simply as the character slowing down time and shooting, was very loud at the time. It’s obvious that the game’s producers were influenced by the slowed-down fight scenes we saw in The Matrix.
Max Payne’s third play was made by Rockstar, not Remedy, and faced serious negative reviews. It is unclear whether the games will be taken off the market when remakes of max payne games are released (as in the case of the GTA).
