The original actors of former legend Max Paynehave gathered to mark the 20th anniversary ofthe play. Remedy Creative Director Sam Lake was the inspiration for Max Payne’s original face. The character’s original voiceover was James Mccafrey, who brought Max Payne into “real life” in a video specially produced for the game’s birthday.
Released on July 23, 2001, Max Payne’s first play quickly paved the way for subsequent games with his review notes and financial success, and even gained film adaptation. Remedy Entertainment announced the special video for the game’s 20th anniversary in a Twitter post.
Max Payne’s original actors moved the character from the world of fiction to the real world.
Throughout the video, Max Payne thanked fans and said Max had a special place in their hearts, and they also sent their “deepest thanks” to fans of the series. Towards the end of the video, Sam Lake says he finds an “old box” and puts the character’s iconic clothes on. Then James Mccafrey voices the character.
The video ends with max payne’s iconic commentary on birthdays on the anniversary of the game.
